Frank Havens 10K

Our coach is off in Poland for a few days this week for some much needed rest after a long season. Yo D how's that new U.S. missile system coming along? Anyways, just before he left the WCC hosted Frank Havens 10K. Pictured are a couple of Ross's, a Havens and a Rhodes havin' it out.

Also, a bunch of us but epic kayaks. The word on the street is they are awesome! Except the rudders are prone to leaf collection which is annoying especially if you already are training with resistance.

And last but not least, Peter Metzger, recent transfer from CMU to Georgetown is training with us in the morning. He's got a ton of speed, he spontaneously yells at the top of his lungs, and we really like having him around.

Szia!

I scoured the earth searching for a club more disheveled than WCC. I found this good candidate while on vacation in Budapest. Behind me are two dudes with mullet-moahwks warming up with an under-inflated kickball. Despite the poor conditions, they had about 20 kids in the water paddling around with a few coaches on the dock barking orders. Perhaps its not surprising though considering the Hungarians make national heroes out of their paddlers. Earlier in the week I saw a poster advertisement for a bank with a kayaker slicing through the water.

The Rising Price of Petro

Peter Petrovics dominated US Nationals with Gold Medals in the 1000 and the 5K. Earlier in the week Peter earned a spot on the US Junior squad and will represent the US in Moscow this Fall at a Junior Worlds warm up event.

The OKC Memorial

On the left there is a small field with a chair for each victim of the attack. There is another archway opposite the one pictured with the time "9:01" inscribed on the top. Timothy McVeigh was convicted and ultimately executed on June 11, 2001, which also happens to be the same day my dog was put to sleep.

General Billary Clinton

WCC paddlers did their thing in NY this memorial day weekend. Looks like they had a strong showing of paddlers and some beautiful weather.

Thanks to Blaiser for capturing it all on his high tech digital photo device.

I was in Austin TX over the weekend for a really fun triathlon. When it was over I naturally decided to play Rockband in a bar on 6th street.
